ORIENTATION  LEVEL  COURSES

 

 

S100  GENERAL  ORIENTATION  TO  CAREER  AND  TECHNICAL  EDUCATION  (CTE)  I

 

Course length: 1 year

Course credit: 1.0

Grade level: 9, 10

 

General Orientation to Career and Technical Education (CTE) I is an orientation level course for students in the Specialized Vocational Education pathway.  Students are provided an opportunity to explore a wide range of career/employment options.  Assessment and the identification of appropriate career options are key components.  Workplace skills, including job seeking and job maintenance skills, and appropriate work behaviors/attitudes are introduced.  Students will be involved in individualized career/vocational planning.  Emphasis is placed upon related background knowledge and skills as they relate to occupational tasks identified as appropriate in accordance with the interest and abilities of the individual learner.  Students enrolled in this course may be allowed to specialize in a career pathway according to their Individual Education Plan (IEP).
